Chinese Improvised Armored Car belonging to a motorized unit of the Warlord Zhang Zongchang. Shandong, China, ca. 1926-27.

Chinese Improvised Armored Car belonging to a motorized unit of the "Territorial Army of Shandong

It consisted of more than 100,000 men, including more than 4,500 White Russians and other volunteers from different nationalities

The Army was under the command of Warlord Zhang Zongchang, called "The Dog Meat General", Military Governor, between 1925 and 1928, of Shandong Province (Northeast China), where the Army stood

This area, along with other North China, was under the rule of the "Warlords of the Fengtian Clique", under the command of General Zhang Zuolin

This armored car must have been done between 1926 and 1927, and certainly fought the Revolutionary Army troops of the Kuomintang (KMT) in 1928.

KMT troops were under the command of General Chiang Kai-shek, who led the "Northern Expedition" starting from their base in Canton in 1928.

The offensive against the government of the "Warlords Beijing" was held to unify all of China under the leadership of the KMT.

Chinese Nationalist Improvised Armored Car. Sino-Japanese War. China, 1937.

Chinese Nationalist** Improvised Armored Car. China, 1937. The Second Sino-Japanese War (July 7, 1937 – September 2, 1945).

Built on the chassis of a light vehicle, has been applied a mixed-type shield with welds and rivets. He is armed (most likely) with a 37-mm Hotchkiss Gun and is provided with a peculiar folding antenna. The curved and semispherical turret may have been inspired by the Spanish "Hispano-Suiza MC 36 Armored Truck" *, used by both parties (Republican and Nationalist) during the Spanish Civil War. The image of the large Spanish Armored Car was widely diffused through the international press, hence the possibility of the mentioned inspiration.

** Note the Chinese soldier's uniform, clearly inspired by the German Wehrmacht uniforms. At that time (1937-1941) was a close collaboration Germano-China economic and military type.

Coche Blindado Improvisado Nacionalista Chino**. China, 1937.
