Warning: The originals photos, texts, films, music, etc ... of the period previous to 1921 year -see the Act of the US Congress about it - have no copyright and belong to the public domain. However, those same pictures, I process this blog, when I restore and paint the pictures, then the right of modification is produced, ie that are protected by full copyright law, in this case mine. Of course there are many more laws in the world, declared in the public domain photographs (which is the topic at hand), in very later dates to the aforementioned (Example: WWII, Korea, etc ...).

Captured German Red Cross Schwimmwagen. Used by the US Army Medical Corps.
Normandy, France. Summer 1944

As indicated by Jordi Sánchez in his PANZERNET post, the vehicle had the windshield lowered forward, covered by an anti-reflection canvas lining that was painted with a red cross on a white background.

The US Army Medical Services maintained the international symbols of the Red Cross, previously painted by the Germans (including the flag) in the vehicle.

They also added five-pointed white stars on the sides and a larger one on the front bonnet, in the place corresponding to the spare wheel.
